Corrections & right of reply
July 2026
Every Ethica grade is a calculation over cited, public evidence. If you believe a grade rests on evidence that is wrong, missing, or out of date, you can ask us to re-examine it — and we will, using the same published methodology.
Who can request a correction
Anyone. A brand or its representatives, a journalist, an NGO, or a member of the public. You do not need an account, and there is no fee.
What to include
Three things: (1) the brand and the specific pillar or criterion in question; (2) what you believe is wrong, missing, or outdated; (3) at least one citable source — a link to a regulator record, an NGO or academic report, a company filing, or a news article. Corrections without a source cannot change a grade: the methodology only moves on evidence, never on assertion.
What happens next
We acknowledge every request. A reviewer checks the source against the methodology, classifies it (source type, pillar, date), and — if it qualifies — adds it to the evidence base. The scoring engine then recomputes the grade automatically, the same way it does for any other evidence. If a request does not change the grade, we tell you why, with reference to the specific rule involved.
Timeline
We aim to acknowledge a request within 5 working days and to resolve it within 30 days. A complex dispute with conflicting evidence may take longer; if it does, we will keep you informed rather than leave the request open silently.
How a correction appears
A grade change is never silent. Each brand page shows the evidence behind every score and the date it was last reviewed, so a correction is visible and dated. We do not delete unfavourable evidence on request — new evidence is weighed against what already exists, by the same rules, and the grade moves only as far as the evidence supports.
Independence
We accept no payment, sponsorship, or advertising from any brand we score. A correction is never a negotiation over a number; it is a re-examination of the evidence. That independence is what makes a corrected grade worth trusting.
