About Ethica
Ethica is an independent register of ethical brand scores. Every grade is a deterministic calculation over cited, human-reviewed evidence — not an AI opinion, not a sponsored ranking, not a popularity contest.
The problem
Brands publish sustainability reports. NGOs publish scorecards. News outlets publish investigations. None of them agree, none of them show their working, and most of them are outdated the moment they are printed. A consumer who wants to know whether a brand is genuinely responsible has no single, transparent, up-to-date source to check.
Our approach
We collect evidence from regulators, NGOs, press, and academic sources. Every piece is reviewed by a human who classifies it (source type, pillar, date) before it enters the scoring engine. The engine applies a published, versioned methodology — the same calculation every time, no discretion, no black box. The result is a grade (A–F) and a confidence score that tells you how much evidence stands behind it.
What makes Ethica different
- Deterministic: the same evidence always produces the same grade. Two reviewers cannot disagree on the calculation — only on the evidence.
- Transparent: every score links back to its sources. The methodology is public and versioned. You can read exactly how a grade was computed.
- Human-reviewed: no AI decides a grade. Evidence is classified by people; the engine only does the arithmetic.
- Current: grades update when new evidence arrives. A brand that improves will see its grade rise; a brand that regresses will see it fall.
